I usually buy castles. The Exo Force line seemed to combine Bionicle with figs, which seemed a great combination, but I didn't jump in until this set was released. Y12,520 for TWO HUGE sets? Wow. You get the Mobile Devistator (8108) and Sentai Headquarters (7709), a total of 2457 pieces! Both are on sale for approximately Y10,206 and Y10,163 individually! Wow. Anyway, I must say that now that I have these sets there are no pictures on the net that give them justice. First off, the boxes are nice. They have a raised texture, so I'm actually tempted to keep them. Inside there are so MANY unique futuristic pieces (like just about everything you've ever seen in the previous space sets). I still dispise stickers (the reason the set will never get 5 for every category), but the ones here aren't as annoying as they are in some sets and iclude things like bulletholes. You get: A base that has many elements on rails, a mobile fortress that opens up like a crazy clam, a ton of cool figs (I usually hate figs, but love the little robots), three full-sized robots, and two small-sized robots.
I bought this for many reasons. A big one is that it included skeletons (love those) and a dragon. I didn't notice that the castle itself was modular until I got it home. This is a nifty feature and makes a lot of sense so that you can get a lot of configurations out of the completed castle pieces. The castle itself is nice enough, with plenty of towers and such. The only thing that I really didn't like in the design was the break-away wall: It doesn't sit well in the model and falls out. I do love the drawbridge though as it is elegant and simple. I think the biggest complaint that I would have against the set is that it is so very grey. I got set 10176 and that one had so much color that it was a visual feast. Still, you can't go wrong with this set. There are plenty of unique pieces (I love the various "metals"). I love LEGO castles and I like this one for the interesting pieces that other castle sets don't have.
This is The Last Launch: Evil Memorial Value Pack. It includes Sonic Phantom (7704), Shadow Crawler (8104), and Iron Condor (8105). I got mine at Y4,440, which is awesome considering that getting each separately more than doubles that price. I also bought the other last launch sets. This set has attractive voil boxes with raised areas, which makes them tempting to keep. Inside, you get a cool ship, spider, and robot. Things shoot, but it's the sheer volume of special pieces at this great price that won me over. If you're like me and didn't jump into this series, then this is the time to buy in!
